Carpet Cleaning Guide: Removing Bleach Spots

Bleach is very useful around the home when it comes to cleaning. It can get rid of many stains and marks on our fabric and clothing and it can also be used in other cleaning purposes in the home.

Sadly, not all of your home accessories can be cleaned properly by bleach. There are actually some instances when bleach can cause the spot or mark instead of trying to remove. One such instance is if you accidentally get some drops of bleach on your brown or dark colored carpet at home. Many carpet fabrics are not compatible with bleach thus spilling some of it will cause a spot or mark on your carpet.

Thankfully though, this is not a problem that will cause you to buy a new carpet for your home. It can actually be remedied quite simply as long as you know the right procedure.

Here is what you will need to do to get your carpet spotless and clean once more.

• Create a cleaning solution using a teaspoon of dish washing liquid with a cup of warm water. Combine the two thoroughly together and then place it inside an empty container.

• Next, apply some of the cleaning solution that you have just made on the bleach spots on your carpet. Make sure to apply only just enough as you don't want to overdo and use too much of the cleaning agent.

• Now get a piece of clean white cloth and then start blotting the bleach spots on your carpet. Do this for a minute or two and then proceed to the next step.

• Dab the area you just blotted using another piece of cloth dampened with clean water. Then use another piece of clean rag to dry the carpet completely.

• Get some carpet dye that fits the color of your carpet. In most occasions you would need to mix the carpet dye by yourself so you will be able to get the exact shade of the carpet right. If you have the dye ready, apply some of it onto the bleach spots.

• Now get a medicine dropper and then add a couple of drops of water onto the dye one at a time. This will help thin the mixture and help you to get the color just right. Mix the dye on the bleach spot and make sure that you cover the entire discolored area. Then, allow the carpet to dry and voila, your carpet is clean and spotless once again.

Bleach spots can really ruin your carpet's appearance but luckily there are effective steps to remove it. Just follow the guide above and you'll surely be rid of the ugly bleach spots on your carpet in no time.

  3. Spot removal is a technique used to instantly react to a spill or stain as soon as it occurs, before they have the chance to become permanent. Care must be taken not to use the wrong chemicals or techniques when spot cleaning, as this may cause more damage or spread the stains. Spot cleaning should be started with clean water and a blotting cloth. If that fails to remove the stain, stronger chemicals can be used for removal.
